Caregivers

According to the 2022 New Jersey Caregiver Task Force Report, there are more than one million family caregivers in our state. Those who take on this tremendous responsibility know how difficult, stressful and costly this work can be. But we also know how important it is.

As we age, our ability to live at home might be dependent on whether or not we have a trusted and reliable caregiver to assist us. Therefore, any discussions and policies about aging must also include considerations for the dedicated people who fill these vital roles.

In all aspects of life in New Jersey, policies that keep the state’s aging population in mind also make things easier for its caregivers. And when we create a place that is friendly to all ages, we create a state where we can all thrive for the entirety of our lives.

So today, on National Caregivers Day, we take a minute to acknowledge the people who care for us, show gratitude for all they do and commit to including them in conversations about how we can make New Jersey the ideal place to live as we age.

About Lifelong Strong NJ

About Lifelong Strong NJ

Lifelong Strong New Jersey is an advocacy campaign to prioritize policies that allow older adults to live in New Jersey for the entirety of their lives. The campaign acknowledges that, like all age groups, older New Jerseyans are important contributors to the state’s economy, infrastructure and communities. As demographics rapidly change, we ask that the next Governor recognize all residents as a welcomed and included population and ensure continued access and consideration in all policy discussions, so that New Jersey can become the best place to grow up and grow older.
